Cystoid Macular Edema

What is it?

Cystoid Macular Edema (CME) is a condition where fluid builds up in the macula, the part of the eye responsible for sharp, central vision. This can cause blurry or distorted vision, making it harder to read or recognize faces. It often occurs after eye surgery or due to inflammation or retinal conditions.

Common Symptoms

Blurry or wavy central vision, difficulty reading, faded colors.

Treatment Options

Treatment may include anti-inflammatory eye drops, steroid injections, or medications injected into the eye to reduce swelling. Managing the underlying cause is key to improving vision.
